In case emails are an indivisible component of your electronic communication with business colleagues or family members, it would be better to use a mailbox with your own personal domain and an email provider that supports the POP3 and IMAP email protocols, instead of relying on a web-based email service that entails restrictions as to the size of the attachments. Thus, you will be able to access your email messages on any desktop or mobile device using any software app – Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, and so forth. With the IMAP protocol, you will be able to view the email messages locally at your end, but they will be on the server at all times, whereas with the POP3 protocol, all email messages will be downloaded on the device, unless you choose a copy to be saved on the mail server. In addition, you’ll be able to take advantage of plenty of other useful options – contact groups, calendars, and so on, not to mention that if there’s a temporary issue with your Internet service, you can still examine your email messages since they will be on your desktop or mobile device.
